is this the greatest canned oat iced latte of all time?

Canning Division reckons so.

Based on last year’s Iced Latte Pilot can, they’ve spent the past year tweaking and perfecting every detail of this Oat Iced Latte. It's dairy-free, vegan, and delicious, with each can delivering a single shot of coffee. Ripe berry and chocolate notes are balanced with oat milk and a touch of sweetness for a satisfying summer sip. It’s Canning Division’s pride and joy, their greatest achievement to date.

Wait, what is this Canning Division?

The concept of the Canned Oat Iced Latte was baked in a made-up Canning Division a few years back. A colourful bunch of coffee experts, these guys pondered the Big Stuff: is there a need for coffee in cans? Are café’s enough? Will cans fly?

With these questions in mind, Canning Division picked up a coupla pH meters and got to work on crafting the prelude to the Oat Iced Latte: the OG Pilot Can.

With their meticulous eye for detail, every component of Pilot Can was scrutinised under a metaphorical microscope, right down to the last grind. In pursuit of Canned perfection, they tasted and tested and tasted some more, until – BOOM. Pilot Can was born.

Refine, refine, refine

To see if they’d nailed it, Canning Division put Pilot Can to the test. Part product launch, part in-market consumer test, field trials were conducted. Survey results were analysed.

What was said? 98% of the respondents loved it. Most people liked it best chilled, but over ice was also a strong contender. It was rated by some as a great option to take on the go - ideal for summer picnics and road trips. Others envisaged keeping them in the fridge to crack open at work.

With these insights in mind, Canning Division HQ kept tinkering away, making further tweaks and refinements.

How did it all end up?

In this latest iteration, the coffee flavour in the Canned Oat Iced Latte has been dialled up a notch, and added sugar reduced 50%, for an unmistakably coffee-forward profile that allows the chocolatey notes to shine through. Produced in New Zealand, the guys at New Ground have done a great job in capturing the essence of freshly brewed coffee, sealed up nice and tight in a fancy-esque can.

The result? A convenient coffee-in-a-can that’s made for summer. Easy to store, easy to open, easy to sip on, easy easy easy.

If you aren’t reading this because you scanned the QR code on the can, then here are some some important deets to keep in mind: it’s available now ‘till the end of Feb(?), and can be found online, or in-store at Surry Hills, Carriageworks, Newstead, or a nearby Supercafe.
