Now with five locations across Tokyo, each of our cafes has a personality as distinct and bold as the neighbourhoods they're in. In Ryogoku, you’ll find the Roastworks and tasting bar—home to fresh roasts and deep dives. Hamacho is the flagship, serving up full cafe vibes in a serene riverside pocket. Shibuya’s standing bar is all hustle, perfect for a quick hit mid-city. Over in Kanda Awaji, our biggest site to date brings day-to-night service to the nearby electronics district, Akihabara, as well as Kanda-Ogawamachi, the go-to district for ski and snow gear. And last but not least, at Yurakucho Station, our newest venue, opened in June 2025, delivers specialty coffee with the efficiency of the trains and the hospitality of Single O — just steps from the buzz of Ginza.

WHAT’S DOING, AND WHERE?
We’ve been brewing moves in Tokyo since 2014, and we've come a long way since then! Starting with our first flagship in Hamacho, established in 2021, which was followed the launch of our Ryogoku Roastworks and our Shibuya coffee bar in 2024. 2025 marks our biggest year yet with our Mothership flagship cafe landing in Kanda Awaji in April, and the launch of our Yurakucho Station cafe in June.


WHY JAPAN? AND HOW?
In 2014, after a visit to Japan, we fell in love with the Japanese culture, passion for craft and eye for detail. We also noticed a gap in specialty coffee offerings, with an opportunity to source import and roast an array of single origins that the fine-tuned Japan palate would love. As for the how, long time team members (ranging from Dishhand, Barista, Roaster and more) Yu and Mamiko Yamamoto are formidable at the helm.


FREEPOUR BATCH IN JAPAN
Single O Surry Hills was the first cafe globally to launch Freepour Batch, hot and cold filter coffee on tap. Single O Japan is the sole distributor for Freepour Batch throughout Japan. Designed and manufactured by Australia’s Six Simple Machines, Freepour Batch is right at home in Japan, where black filter coffee is favoured, and the speed, choice, novelty and ease is making quite the splash! LANDING SPIRITED AUSSIE COFFEE CULTURE
There’s no denying how strong specialty coffee is in Australia, from flourishing quality cafes, to our long list of barista champs. And it’s also clear that Japan is punching above its weight in coffee culture, from its long distinct filter history, to its emerging speciality scene that we’re excited to be a part of. Beans & Dreams in Japan? To give vending machine coffee a run for its money with higher quality (but still very convenient) batch on tap. And to share the Flat White up alongside the V60 Filter, melding the best of coffee cultures.
