CONNECTION TO SINGLE O?
A Random Acts of Art bag from long, long ago!
Now we’ve got the café ritual established, a few questions about you and your art:
YOU’RE IN AN ELEVATOR & YOU NEED TO DESCRIBE YOUR ILLUSTRATION STYLE BEFORE WE REACH OUR FLOOR… AND GO!
I’m a multidisciplinary Australian artist, specialising in type-based, monochromatic artworks and installations. I usually paint more than I illustrate these days, but I couldn’t say no to some detailed drawings for Single O!
WAS YOUR PROCESS FOR CREATING THE ARTWORKS FOR THE BAGS ANY DIFFERENT THAN USUAL? IF SO, HOW?
The process for these artworks was really fun – we mixed literal and abstract ideas and notes that were unique to each blend, and then I developed this through a lot of experimentation within the visuals to play out across each bag.
FAVOURITE ONE OF THE FIVE ARTWORKS YOU CREATED FOR OUR BAGS?
The Collider illustration – I love the sense of clashing movement and detail.
IF YOU WEREN’T AN ARTIST WHAT CAREER DO YOU RECKON YOU’D DO?
I used to think I wanted to be an architect, but now it might look more like having a riot grrrl band.
One final silly one:
IF YOU COULD HAVE A MAGICAL POWER, WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE
Instant clothes tailoring.
