random acts of art no 14: toilet feelings
Where beyond the bounds of our imagination might coffee automation take us? Comic artist Humyara Mahbub dreams up the possibilities in our fourteenth instalment of Random Acts of Art, resulting in a series of quirky cartoons that practically jump off the bag.
We talked to Humyara about her relationship with coffee, the name Toilet Feelings, and what’s up next for this out-of-the-box creative. And since she’s downright ace at the comic thing, we thought we’d have her draw some of her responses! Read (and look) on to learn more about the brains behind Toilet Feelings.
HOW DID YOU GET CONNECTED WITH SINGLE O?
ARE YOU A COFFEE DRINKER? IF SO, WHAT’S YOUR POISON AND HOW MANY DO YOU DRINK A DAY?
I am a coffee drinker! I started out drinking half-strength flat whites when I was at uni, because anything stronger gave me heart palpitations, but now I drink long blacks all day because the coffee is the only thing keeping my ageing heart beating.
WHY THE NAME TOILET FEELINGS?
Someone is offering to buy the handle from me for $600, but I feel like it’s worth more than that. I’ve been drawing forever, and I just needed somewhere to put my rude drawings where my family didn’t see them. It’s been nice to have people I don’t even know in real life following me!
