over a decade of solar

OVER A DECADE OF SOLAR OVER A DECADE OF SOLAR
We've upped our solar game making good on a promise we made to mamma earth over a decade ago in 2013.

Back in 2013, we installed 92 solar panels at our Roastworks in Botany, which as of 2026 generate around 37% of our electricity production to power our cupping lab, training facility and roast production. We promised back then we'd add more in the coming years to see solar comprise over 50% of our Roastworks electricity.

Since day dot Single O has always been about brewing up different. When we launched our No Death To Coffee program in 2018 it was to combat that ick prediction that "Land that is suitable for growing Arabica coffee is predicted to halve by 2050"[1]

We're so-lar happy to have surpassed this promise in a big way. As of April 2026 we're now generating 100% of our Roastworks electricity needs thanks to 105 new solar panels installed with the help of Green.com.au. This whittles down our overall carbon footprint an additional 50 tonnes every year.

This power play doesn't only ramp up at our rooftop either! We've also teamed up with Lifecycle+, who will take our 92 old panels, scrub 'em up and redistribute them to neighbouring countries like Nigeria, Ghana and Ethiopia where our coffee is produced and harvested to begin with. Here, they get a second life powering villages, schools and agricultural business.

As always, we're not resting on our laurels, we'll continue to keep up the good fight to remain carbon neutral and do all we can to replenish the agriculture industry that keeps the good brew flowing to keep our cups full.
